There is an Elisha Pickens Gaines who received a TX Confederate Pension in Hunt Co, TX.
Go to Rootswebs WorldConnect, type in Gaines, Elisha, born South Carolina, 1823. Several people working on this line, but only one seems to have full info on that second wife Amanda. You can contact that submitter see if they know more about descendants of this family. But, you might want to check out some of the other submitters, too. Another one shows Amanda M. ?, but has info on 7 of the 9 children, and seems to continue descents, also.
