Building on info supplied to you by Betty, this looks like David in 1880 census Giles Co, TN"

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

James W. FUDGE Self M Male W 35 AL Farmer NC AL
Julia FUDGE Wife M Female W 44 AL Keeping House VA AL
James FUDGE Son S Male W 14 AL AL AL
John FUDGE Son S Male W 13 AL AL AL
David FUDGE Son S Male W 10 TN AL AL
Joseph FUDGE Son S Male W 8 TN AL AL
Henry FUDGE Son S Male W 6 TN AL AL
Ezra FUDGE Son S Male W 1 TN AL AL

If so, this may be the line on back a bit.

1870 census Giles Co, TN:

Fudge, Solomon, 70, b SC - no land/personal 100
" Winney, 67 b NC
" Mary A., 41, b AL
Hardy, Charlotte, 5, b AL

1860 census Limestone Co, AL:

Fudge, Solomon, 60, b NC - land 150/personal 20
" Winna, 56, b NC
" Mary E., 33, b AL
" Sarah C., 25, b AL
" Eliza M., 22, b AL
" William H., 16, b AL
" James W., 14, b AL (James W. from 1880 census?)

Just keep in mind, you will still need to do a little record researching and prove this information. But, it gives you some names and locations to check out.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
