Not sure where the Texas connection is, but here is what I found in AR. Mother of Thomas lives with him, so you have first solid clue there:

1900 census Hot Springs Co, AR:

Fason, Thomas W., hd, b May 1869, 30, md 5 yrs, b MS, AL, MS
" Mary E., w, b Apr 1878, 22, md 5 yrs, 2 ch, 2 lvg, b
AR, AR, TN
" Henry (?), s, b Jan 1896, 4, b AR
" Lloyd O., s, b Mar 189?, s, b AR
" Charlotte, mother, b Sep 1844, 55 Wd, 5 ch, 5 lvg, b MS, GA, GA

Sanders families on both sides of this Fason family are probably brothers of Mary.

1880 census Lee Co, MS:

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

Benj. R. FASON Self M Male W 45 AL Farmer NC NC
America FASON Wife M Female W 35 MS Keeping House GA SC
Fatannie FASON Dau Female W 17 MS At Home AL MS
Susan J. FASON Dau Female W 14 MS At Home AL MS
Thomas W. FASON Son S Male W 11 MS Farm Laborer AL MS
Minnie B. FASON Dau S Female W 5 MS AL MS

1870 census Oktibbeha Co, MS pg 373:

Fason, Benjamin, 32, b AL
" America C., 25, b MS
" F____ A., 9, b MS
" Susan G., 4, b MS
" Thomas W., 1, b MS
[This census gives you America C., showing middle initial of C. matches her with Charlotte. Don't you just love these people who swap back and forth between middle name and first name???]

1870 page 380, probably brother to Benjamin:

Fason, John, 36, b AL
" Eliza A., 25, b AL
" Martha A., 5, b AL
" Virginia, 4, b MS
" John W., 1, b MS

1860 census Pickens Co, AL:

Carpenter, Melvina, 53, b NC-land 5,100/personal 18,000[slaves?}
" Benj., 21, b AL
" C____ A., 14, b AL female, could this be Charlotte America?
Fason, Benjamin F., 21, b AL, overseer
[I would look for marriage record in Pickens Co, AL for Benjamin and Charlotte America.]

In neighboring Greene Co, AL in 1860 there are two males, both born in NC, old enough to be father of Benjamin. Both own land, so I would look at land and probate records, see if your Benjamin shows up as an heir.

1850 census Greene Co, AL (from GenWeb site) looks like John and Benjamin, brothers, from the 1870 census:

Fason, Benjamin, 53, b NC
" Susan, 51, b NC
" Julia R., 21, b NC
" William H., 20, b NC
" Calvin W., 19, b NC
" John H., 17, b NC
" Benjamin R., 14, b NC
" Thomas W., 12, b NC

You might want to check out the Greene Co, AL GenWeb site, other Fasons on the 1850 census listed, too.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
