I don't know if this is your man, but there is a James Thomas Cox who died 8-12-1950 in Young Co, TX - file #40841.
You might try the Young Co, TX GenWeb site, click on Access Young County Lookups.There seems to be one volunteer who will do lookups for vital statistics, may be they will check out death record for the above James Thomas Cox, see if the record gives enough to tell whether or not he is yours.
