You didn't really say much about what you found on census records, did you see 1910 also?E.B. is Elias B. Briggs and wife is Mary F.
On the 1920 census Ellis Co, TX, E.B. is widowed, youngest child is four and named Ellis.I would guess Ellis was born after they moved to Ellis Co, TX.So, Mary F./Florence probably died in Ellis Co, TX.

You can see they were doing better before the Civil War.Again, land and probate might help you tell who were the heirs, and were they your Crowsons.
I don't have access to online 1850 state census for AL.Someone else may have it and can help you find this family in AL.Shouldn't be too hard, name not real common.
