Back in December Hugh Adams found death record in CA and Soc Sec dth rec for your James. Have you been able to obtain a copy of that dth record, or the application James filled out for his Soc Sec card? The names of his parents should be on both. Information on the dth certificate only as good as the knowledge of the informant, but James filled out the Soc Sec application.

If you could learn given name of his mother, it might help to narrow down the search for her Goss family.
