Looking for Ohio and/or Pennsylvania and/or New York information on Daniel Baker, born about 1795 in NY according to Texas census information. He was a stonemason according to census records and a Church of Christ Minister according to family members. Family members have told me he came from New York to Ohio with all his belongings on a wheelbarrow and preached the gospel along the way. He married Margaret (Margarette?) Miller who was from OH or PA. I have no information about her prior to Texas. Daniel is also said by descendants to have worked on the Erie Canal. Their children born in Ohio are Eliza Baker Bell b1831; Albert William Baker b 1833; Daniel Baker b1833; Edward Baker b1835 and Harriette Baker b1836. Children born in Fayette County, TX are Joel Baker b 1838 m Aurelia Springsteade; Stephen F Austin Baker b 1840. I have quite a bit of information regarding Daniel Baker in Texas, but absolutely none before he came to Texas. He is my husband's gg-grandfather.
