Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

You might try sending an e-mail to the Texas State Library in Austin:

geninfo@tsl.state.tx.us

Tell them you need a death record between 1936 - 1939 and give them your grandfather's full name. It might take them several days but if there is a death certificate it will have his name, date & county of death, cause of death and sometimes an informant (family member or friend who gave information about the deceased.)

You might get results faster from them since I am not sure when I'll be getting to the library.

Good luck!
