Veoma Lelamae (Crouson) Crowson is my first cousin.. Her father William Wood (Crouson) Crowson is the brother of my grandfather John Henry Crowson. William Wood and John Henry’s parents are William Samuel Crowson and Permela Johnson. William Samuel was killed in the Civil War and it is believed that Permela was killed in a fire. William Wood Crouson was born after William Samuel Crowson left to fight in the war. Both boys were orphaned and raised by other families. John Henry Crowson was raised by a Lee family. We are not sure who raised William Wood and it was during this separation his named was spelled “Crouson”. Since Dorothy Maye Caldwell is still alive, is it possible she knows the name of the family who raised William Wood?
