I've seen your postings on GF and Ancestry boards regarding Jasper. I believe the two markers are likely 'memorial' in nature, as I also haven't found anything related to a burial for him.

He was an Aviation Radioman First Class, in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Mother was Mrs. Ruth Caldwell, Rt.1, Mesquite TX.

If he served in the Pacific theater of operations it's quite possible that his plane was shot down over water.

I have no known relation to the name Caldwell.
