Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Some good sites to use:

http://www.usgenweb.org

That takes you to the U.S. level, from there you can select your state, then the county level in each state. Some state levels, such as TX & TN, have good "stuff." Sites are manned by volunteers so they vary in quantity and quality of material. Most are growing, so always check back from time to time.

I don't know why counties have an archived site, too. Some have bascially the same info, some have additional material:

You've probably used the LDS site:

http://www.familysearch.org

LOTS of good stuff on there, too. Be sure to click and look, dig deep, some things are almost "hidden."

Happy Hunting (^_^)
