I am researching my greatgrandfather, Thomas Dixon Suttle who was born 1840 in Mississippi but whose parents were both born in Alabama. Married Annie Gates of Polk county. Migrated north as a Baptist preacher/missionary. Helped start North Texas Baptist College in Jacksboro, TX. Started many Baptist churches around Waco, including 1st Baptist Mart, TX. Buried in Mart, having died 1898. He and wife Annie had 15 children who all lived to adulthood. One is my grandfather, F.E. Suttle. Any information would be appreciated but especially prior to 1850, first entry in Texas in Newton County. Looking for names of his parents.
Also any information of the Gates family of Polk county or the Hickman family whith whom he lived as a young man.
