The problem there is your father and his parents are in that time period where many records are still on the restricted side due to identity theft scares.

That's why working on your grandfather Carl Kelso will take you back to the generation where you will begin to find records a little more readily.

The 1930 federal census is the most recent one open to the public to view, and your grandfather wasn't even born yet. But, once you have his parents names, you can then view the 1930 census for them. A local Family History Center near you will have Ancestry.com online and Ancestry has an everyname index for the 1930 census. So, even though your grandparents father and mother hadn't married, yet, and were still living at home at that time, you will find them using Ancestry. Also, volunteers in the FHC will help you with your research.

Sometimes we can't go back up our tree in a direct line, but have to work on branches to get the information we need. So, if you are trying to make contact with living family members, I would suggest you try contacting the ones currently living in Blanket, TX. They may know where other family members are now living.

As for Mable, is there a possibility she remarried? And, Carla and Cathy, are they married? Online directories usually begin with listings from telephone directories, so you would have to know their current surnames. That's where obits sometimes come in handy. If daughters were married, they will be listed in obit with their married name.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
