The 1880 census index for TX shows a Peyton Phillips in Cooke Co, TX, pg 274, E.D. 114. (E.D. is enumerator's district, and important when looking at census records beginning with 1880 census through 1920.) There are over a dozen Phillips in Cooke Co, TX in 1880. If you are going to look at Peyton Phillips, you might as well look at these others, too. Several have less then common given names, and many times if you have one child with unusual name most of the siblings do too.
