My great grandmother Nancy Jane Lyons was raised by her Aunt Lydia after Nancy's mother died. I've always been told that Nancy came from Mississippi on The Trail of Tears. She ended up in Grayson Co., TX by 1874 when she married George Norman. Their daughter, Anna Lee Norman bn 1874 md James Harvey Eckhardt bef. 1892 in TX. Nancy Jane Lyons married Alfred Franklin Smith bef 1882 when my grandfather, Jess Coleman Smith was born in Denison, Grayson Co., TX. Other children: Arlen Arthur Smith bn 1888, Sarah Frances Dollie Smith bn 1884 md Amon Rainey, Steve Rose and Unknown Lloyd; and Bessie Smith bn. 1889 md Cling Bates. Sometimes after 1884 Nancy Jane moved to Mena, Polk Co., AR area where she died in 1930. I have not been able to find anything on the Lyons, Normans or Smiths in the Grayson Co., area.
