This may not be the family you are looking for, but it was the only BARTLETT GOSS I found on the 1850 census, and they were in Alabama.

1850 Henry Co. AL
Southern dist.Sept,1850
Bartlett Goss 30,b.abt 1820 SC
Catherine 30,b.SC
James 11,b.SC
John 9,b.SC
Nancy 5,b.SC
Caterine 2,b.SC

then there was 1 family on 1860 Coffee Co.AL that is simiular to this one.
James B. Goss 37,b.SC
Catherine 45,b.SC
James 17,b.SC
John 13,b.SC
Nancy 11,b.AL
Thomas 9,b.AL
Elizabeth 7,b.AL
Mariah 6,b.AL
Andrew 4,b.AL
Martin 2,b.AL

Could not find either family in 1870.
Searched Texas also.
