Is this your father?

TX Dth Idx:

Santillan, Salvador L., d 28 Feb 1981, Harris Co, TX

SSDI (Soc Sec Dth Idx):

Santillan, Salvatore, b 7 Jan 1935; d 28 Feb 1981; last benefit paid Houston, Harris Co, TX; SS card issued in TX.

Is this your Isabella from TX Dth Idx?

Santillan, Isabel, d 2 May 1973, Harris Co, TX; widow.

Those named Santillan on the TX census are all born in Mexico. Maybe your family originated in Spain and went to Mexico before coming to this country(?)

Now, there is a Joe on the TX Dth and SSDI, don't know if he is yours:

Santillan, Joe, b 8 Aug 1941; d 28 Nov 1975, Harris Co, TX; no last residence shown; SS card issued in TX.

Do you have contact with any cousins? You never know what bits of family information they might have.

If the above Isabel is your grandmother, a copy of her death certificate should show the names of her parents. But, the accuracy will only be as good as the knowledge of the informant. On the other hand, Isabel filled out the application for her Soc Sec card and it should show the names of her parents, her residence at the time of application and other data, too.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
