Hi Carol.

I found William and Caleb living together in the 1850 census. I assume the girls were married by then, but without their married names I can't find them:
1850 United States Federal Census > Texas > Lamar > Precinct 1 > Page 10
Dwelling 69/Family 69
William Brown, 67, white, Farmer, $960, b NC
Caleb, 18, white, Farmer, b Alabama

William was not to be found in the 1860 census, so I assume that he had passed away by then. The census date was 1 Jun 1860.

Here is Caleb in 1860:
1860 United States Federal Census > Texas > McLennan > Page 58
Dwelling 376/Family 376
Caleb Brown, 27, white, farmer, $800 real estate, $2707 personal property, b AL
S.E., 22, female, b VA
J.W., 8, male, b TX
J.W., 7, male, b TX
Robert, 4, b TX
C.M.C., 2, male, b TX
T.M., 1 month, male, b TX
Fle?, 21, male, farm laborer, Alabama

If the girls lived long enough, it is possible that their death certificates could list the name of their mother and more information about William.

Good luck!
Karen
