You mention census records, so not sure how many of these you already have seen. I don't think you really mean you want to find "every" Bright family in TX. On the 1900 census there are 126 listings, most of which will be families. (^_^)

1880 census Lamar Co, TX:

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital; Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

John BRIGHT Self M Male W 47 MO Farmer NC KY

Mary Jane BRIGHT Dau S Female W 20 MO At Home MO TN
Jackson BRIGHT Son S Male W 16 IL Farm Laborer MO TN
Dollie M. BRIGHT Dau S Female W 10 MO At Home MO TN
Lilla Rose BRIGHT Dau S Female W 7 MO MO TN
Willie C. BRIGHT Son S Male W 4 MO MO TN
Jno. W. BRIGHT Son S Male W 2 MO MO TN
Nancy RICHARD Sister W Female W 35 MO Assists In House NC KY

1900 census Hopkins Co, TX:

Bright, Jackson, h, b Nov 1862, 37, M 19 yrs, b MO, MO, MO
" Fannie, w, b Apr 1863, 37, M 19 yrs, 9 ch, 7 lvg, AR, dk, dk
" Quincy G., s, b Sep 1884, 15, b TX
" Henry, s, b Feb 1887, 13, b TX
" Joseph, s, b Aug 1889, 10, b TX
" Hattie, d, b Feb 1892, 8, b TX
" Onie, d, b May 1894, 6, b TX
" Nelsie, s, b Oct 1896, 3, b TX
"Isaac, s, b Mch 1899, 1, b TX
[dk = Written out - Don't Know. Jackson owns farm free and clear]

Next door:

Bright, John, h, b Apr 1833, 67, M 50 yrs, b NC, TN, NC
" Elizabeth, w, b May 1837, 63, M 50 yrs, 9 ch, 6 lvg, b TN, NC, NC
" Wesley, s, b Mch 1898, 22, b MO
[John owns farm free and clear, check for land records, who are his heirs when final sale of land is made?]

1910 census Taylor Co, TX:

Bright, J., h, 46, wid, b IL, NC, TN
" Henry, s, 23, b TX
" Joseph ?, s, 20, b TX
" Ona Ethel, d, 16, b TX
" Nelson O., s, 13, b TX
" Isaac, A., s, 11, b TX
" Edward O., s, 8, b TX
" Elbert J., s, 8, b TX (same age, twins?)

Next Door:

Bright, Q. G., h, 25, M(1) 8 yrs, b TX, IL, AR
" Lela M., w, 24, M(1) 8 yrs, 4 ch, 4 lvg, b TX, TX, TX
" Annie, , d, 7, b TX
" Alfred E., s, 5, b TX
" J.T., s, 3, b TX
" _____, s, 1 6/12, b TX

Also a James Bright 56, b MO 4 pages away, maybe an older brother of Jackson.

1920 census Nolan Co, TX:

Bright, Jackson, h, 56, m, b IL, NC, TN
" Zillah, w, 35, m, b TX, OK, TN
" Edward, s, 18, b TX, IL, AR
" Elbert, s, 18, b TX, IL, AR (twins, sons of Fannie]
" Zed, s, 8, b TX, IL, TX
" Zula, d, 6, b TX

Same page:

Bright, Quincey G., h, 35, m, b TX, IL, AR

" ____ T., s, 13, b OK
" Andrea, d, 11, b TX
" Lovie, d, 9, b TX
" Ruby, d, 7, b TX
" Hubert, s, 5, b TX
" Charles, s, 3 ?/12, b TX
" Eugeneia, d, 2 ?/12, b TX

Now, I think this is John on the 1860 census Stoddard Co, MO:

Bright, John, 27, b MO - land 400/personal 150
" Elizabeth, 23, b MO
" James, 6, b MO (James on the 1910 census Taylor Co, TX?)
" Isaac, 4, b MO
" Mary J., 4/12, b MO (on 1880 census with family Lamar Co.)

Next door:

Bright, Eliza, 50, b KY - land 100/personal 100
" Nancy, 16, b MO
" Laura, 11, b MO

I would check 1850 census Stoddard Co, MO, I do not have access to online index for that year. You'll probably find husband of Eliza. Both John and Eliza own land, check land records. Check Stoddard Co, MO GenWeb site. I didn't go through all they have online, but there is an intestate record for Eliza Bright, showing Henry Bright administrator, dated Oct 1867. I sure would check that out.

Also, a John Bright pleaded guilty to an indictment, penalty 2 yrs imprisonment - 1876. That might be same John, and could be interesting. Might be why he left MO??

Happy Hunting (^_^)
