Thomas Ross Carleton, Meridian, MS

I am searching for a starting point on Thomas Ross Carleton. He remains my illusive "Uncle Tom"! The following is not completely sourced yet, but here are the pieces:
b: 03 Mar 1915 in Meridian, Mississippi.
m: c. 1948 to Clarice Ruth Austin in Lubbock, Texas.
They adopted a Japanese-American girl, named her
Sandra. Family rumor says she is his natural daughter.
He was in the Air Force, WWII, Pacific Theatre I think.
Got a Soc Sec No. in Mississippi before 1951.
d: 10 Aug 1966 in Lubbock, Texas of lung cancer. Texas
Death Index lists him as single.

* Ruth & Thomas Ross are my great aunt and uncle.
Aunt Ruth is still living, and still in Lubbock, Texas
She was born 19 Feb 1910 in Childress, Texas and moved
as a young child to Lubbock.

I have a photo of Thomas Ross Carleton...obviously, he isn't going to resemble anyone in my family. Wonder about yours? I will email it if you like.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Laura Austin-Ely
