Was Charles born in TX? You say he lived where his descendants are today, but you didn't say where that was. A copy of his death certificate should show the names of his parents. But, accuracy only as good as the knowledge of the informant. On the other hand, he filled out the application for his Soc Sec card and it should show the names of his parents (including that maiden name of his mother), his residence at the time of the application and other data, too.
