John E. Mathis, John A. Mathis, Bowie County, TX

I am trying to find information regarding the following;

John E. Mathis
Born: 1849
Died: 1928 (Buried in Maud, TX. Bowie County)
Civil War Veteran (don't know what regiment or state)

John E. had four sons, John A., Bert, Gordon & Grady.

John A. met Rose Ida Wales or Wells from Dickson County, TN.
John A. and Rose Ida had 8 children (Benjamin or "Buck", and William Bailey or "Bill" were 2 of them.)

It is my understanding that this group of Mathis' were in GA, went to TN at some point, then on to East Texas.
