You didn't give much info in your post, so I checked your message history. Looks like you have some leads to a Wm B. Brooks and counties where the Brooks resided in GA. Have you checked what happened to the land he obtained in the GA Land Lottery? I love land records, often you can tie whole families together. When Wm.B. died and his land was sold, all heirs would have to sign off to give clear title to the buyer. And, if this all happened in GA, after your Wm moved to TX, then your ancestor may have given power-of-attorney to someone back in GA to collect his share of his father's estate. That will be recorded in land record books, both at the courthouse where he lived in TX and at the courthouse in GA where the estate was probated. Sometimes one of those courthouses burns, but seldom both of them.
