Are you sure about birth year for George B.? 1870 census Falls Co, TX it looks like your George W. isn't married, yet:

French, George, 24, AR is enumerated with Spears fam & ch.

French, Minerva, 18, b AR enumerated with Fedderman fam.

French, Andrew, 15, b AR enumerated with Shultz fam. And, on the same page, the following family.

French, Minerva, 48, b TN
" Meriam, 18, b AR
" Andrew, 16, b AR
" Elizabeth 13, b AR
" Samuel, 12, b AR
" Amanda, 10, b TX

Looks like Andrew worked for the summer at a neighbor's and was counted twice. That happened with one of my grandmother's brothers. Wonder if Minerva's husband died in the Civil War?

By 1900 Falls Co, TX Minerva is living with son Samuel, wife and his children. Next door is William French, wife and children. Could he be the George "W." French? Both Samuel and William show b AR, VA, IN.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
