As to the census records, no I had not seen them, although I do have the MCEWEN information virtually as you had posted it. I will add these records to my notes, however. And yes, the reversing of names is, while not all too common, something to keep in mind.
Actually, I was sort of "trolling for fresher fish". I am looking for descendents of Ethel L. MCEWEN, and, knowing she had married a William STURDIVANT, was hoping to make contact with one or more of their children. I should have worded my post to have a narrower focus, huh? But then I wouldn't have heard from you - I like the way this worked out much better.
At any rate, you did give me something else to think about - the STURDIVANT line itself. I had not planned on climbing that branch so soon, but maybe now would be a good time to start.
