Thank you very much for this information. It pretty much confirms what I believed, that Alexander York is the son of W. A. and Sarah Mahurin York. W. A. York is on the 1880 census in Hill County, with no wife, several daughters and a son, Henry, age 2. Henry is the son of W. A. and Emily Jane Vineyard Winn York. Emily is living in Ellis County in the household of her father, Jasper Vineyard, at that time but Emily raised Henry, later moving to OK. I am not sure who the W. A. and Sarah York could be on the 1900 census. All information I have indicates W. A. was born in 1837-38. Sarah was in the household of her father, Samuel Mahurin, in 1880. She was married about 1889 to someone named Pritchett, so I'm told, and I am also told she is on the 1900 census in the household of her father, Samuel Mahurin, listed as Sarah Pritchett, married 11 years, and had had one child, Alex, b. about 1876. I am not sure why his name is listed. If this is the same Alex, then he was married by that time.
