Thanks, Hugh, for all the information. I really appreciate your help.

The survey from 1870 is kind of confusing to me. It lists two sons, John and Falston Joseph from Alaska (?). They are not listed in the 1880 census. Also, the wife's name is different - in 1860 and 70, it is Melinda; and in 1880, it is listed as S.L.

I'm new to geneaology, so I just wondered if this is common - to see different names in each census.
