Some of this will duplicate what Hugh has sent you, but you can compare and see we pretty much read the 1900 census records the same. I was working on this last night, kept having phone line problems, so saved the info in a send later letter, good thing, when line did go completely dead I would have lost it all.

Looks like F.H. is Fredrick "G." Browning.

1920 census Dawson Co, TX:

Browning, F. G., hd, 46 md, b TX, AL, TN
" Laura, wf, 41, md, b TX, GA, GA
" Ethel, dau, 18, b TX
" Vaskar, son, 16, b TX
" Ottis, son, 13, b TX

1900 census Wood Co, TX, all 4 Browning families are right in a row, I've listed Fredrick G. first, so you would recognize the information, but his family should be #3 in the list:

Browning, Fredrick G., hd, b Mar 1874, 26, M 4 yrs, b TX, AL, AL
" Laura V., w, b Apr 1878, 22, M 4 yrs, 1 ch, 1 lvg, b TX, TX, TX
" Elva V., d, b Jan 1899, 1, b TX

Browning, William U., hd, b Aug 1852, 47, M 28 yrs, b AL, AL, AL
" Eliza F., w, b Jul 1852, 47, M 28 yrs, 6 ch, 4 lvg, b AL, AL, AL
" Amos S., s, b May 1882, 18, b TX
" Luther C., s, b May 1884, 16, b TX

Browning, William F., hd, b jan 1876, 24, M 3 yrs, b TX, AL, AL
" Gertie E., w, b Sep 1878, 21, M 3 yrs, 3 ch, 1 lvg, b AL, AL, AR
" Lula M., d, b May 1897, 3, b TX

Browning, James M., hd, b May 1864, 36, M 8 yrs, b TX, AL, AL
" Mary, w, b May 1874, 26, M 8 yrs, 3 ch, 3 lvg, b AL, AL, AL
" Effa M., d, b May 1894, 6, b TX
" Ernest, s, b May 1896, 4, b TX
" Ollie Jane, d, b May 1898, 2, b TX

I would question birth month of "May" for all of the above families. If age is correct for James, he's too old to be one of the sons of William U.

I couldn't find Fredrick on the 1910 census, but his brother William F. is still in Wood Co, TX and younger brother Luther is living with his family. Looks like maybe Dad has passed away. I'd check land and probate records for Wood Co. There are lots of Brownings in that county on every census, some look like they might be brothers of William U. (Sr.)

1880 census Wood Co, TX:

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status;       Gender;       Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

William BROWNING         Self         M         Male         W         27         AL         Farmer         NC         NC
Eliza F. BROWNING         Wife         M         Female         W         27         AL         Keeping House         TN         TN
Fedrick G. BROWNING         Son         S         Male         W         6         TX                 TN         TN
William F. BROWNING         Son         S         Male         W         4         TX                 TN         TN

Since Fredrick is on the 1880 and 1900 census for Wood Co, TX, I would look for his marriage to Laura in that county. I tried looking for a Laura born about 1878 on the Wood Co, TX 1880 census, but too many to select one as the correct Laura. I thought that name Madison might show up in her family.

On the 1920 Dawson Co, TX census, right next door to F.G. and Laura:

Bailey, T. J., hd, 70, md, b GA, SC, GA
" M.E., w, 70, md, b GA, NC, GA

Their ages and birth locations fit to be parents for Laura. But, on the 1910 census Johnson Co, TX it looked like they hadn't been married long enough to be her parents:

Bailey, Thos. J., hd, 60 M(1) 28 yrs, b GA, NC, GA
" Mary E., w, 61, M(1) 28 yrs, 8 ch, 8 lvg, b GA, NC, GA
" Jerome, s, 22, sgl, b GA
" Lewis, s, 20, sgl, b GA

Then I found them on the 1900 census and looks like they had been married long enough.

1900 census Cherokee Co, TX:

Bailey, Thomas J., hd, b Jan 1848, 52, M 30 yrs, b GA, GA, GA
" Emma E., w, b June 1852, 47, M 30 yrs, 8 ch, 6 lvg, b MS, MS, MS
" James E., s, b Sept 1882, 17, b TX
" Maggie L., d, b Oct 1885, 14 b TX
" Emma J., d, b Sept 1887, 12, b TX
" Delphena, d, b Dec 1889, 10 b TX

Well, I kept digging, looks like Laura was daughter of T.J. Bailey. 1880 census Cherokee Co, TX:

T. J. BAILEY Self M Male W 32 GA Farmer GA GA
E. E. BAILEY Wife M Female W 28 MS Housekeeper GA MS
W. J. BAILEY Son S Male W 7 TX GA MS
H. S. BAILEY Son S Male W 4 TX GA MS
Laura BAILEY Dau S Female W 2 TX GA MS

I played around with the 1870 and 1860 census in GA. Couldn't make a deffinite tie, but some in Baker Co, GA looked good. There was a "T.J." old enough to be father of Thomas J. Bailey, but whole family was initials, and they didn't seem to match up well.

You might watch in records for Cherokee Co, TX, see if T.J. there shows up as an heir to anything in GA. He might give power-of-attorney to someone in GA to collect his share of his father's estate. P-of-A records are usually recorded in land record books.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
