The birth certificate for your grandmother should give Claude's age and at least state of birth. On the CA DTh Idx and SSDI:
Burke, Claude, b 6 Dec 1893 CA; d 7 May 1963 Alameda Co, CA; SS card issued in CA; mother's maiden name Price.
If this should match your Claude, then here he is on 1920 census Stockton, San Joaquin Co, CA:
Burke, Claude E., hd, 26, md, b CA, CA, IL
" Ruth O., wf, 20, md, b CA, CA, CA
" James A., son, 3 4/12, CA
" William C., brother, 31, md, b CA, CA, CA
Either enumerator made a mistake or Claude and William have different mothers, note birth location of mother for both. Claude rents, is a truck driver. William is a warehouseman-Grain Co.
Tuolumne, Alameda and San Joaquin Cos are all in the same general area of California. Groveland is in Tuolumne Co.
I would check the 1930 census, see if you can locate Claude, see if he is in prison at that time. Prisons were enumerated, too.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
