Jennifer, I, too, appreciate the help and kind words of Karen and Alice.
Just want to give one piece of advice (which I think the first poster was trying to say, but was too short with her response):
On the SUBJECT line, give the name(s) of the person(s) you are searching for. Include any known dates and places.
For example:
Subject line: John Doe born 1898 TX to Ann Doe.
That way people know who and what you are looking for. In this example, they will also know the name of the parent(s).
Good luck in your searching. I think what Karen gave you is a very good start. Now start with the names and other information she gave you. Put a name, date, and places for that person on the subject line.
Example: John Doe 1898 Mexico and Texas, brother of Jim Doe.
(or something similiar) Sue
