Ruth,
Edward C. Mills was my ggg-grandfather..His daughter, Ruth Ann Mills was my gg-grandmother, and her daughter, Cassie Jacobs was my great grandmother..
According to the Mills Cemetery book by Linda Jeanne-Dolby, the entry for Tommye Halsell reads:
"HALSELL, Tommye Coyle Halsell dau of Thomas M. & Velia Halsell born 9/15/1901 drowned 5/29/1915 & Lou Velia Halsell, (nee Coyle) wife of Thomas M. Halsell born 9/14/1879 drowned 5/19/1915 (on back of mother side:her life she gave to save her child a true Christian and a hero how beautiful to walk through the pearly gates of heaven leading by the hand her beautiful child to the home of the soul)... (on back of dau side: a beautiful flower a tiny little gem pride of our hearts you have always been.Gone and how we miss you but in heaven we will meet you)"
I do not know who the Mr. and Mrs. Schoolfield are, but there is a James R. and Ruth Davis Schoolfield buried near Lyddia J. MILLS Davis b. 07-Apr-1837 d. 14-Oct-1890..
John H. Cullom is another..John Cullam was a pallbearer at my great grandmother's funeral..I have not identified this Mr. Cullam yet, so I don't know if he was a family friend or some sort of relative..
H. C. Mills could be Henry C. Mills b. 22-Sep-1856 d. 4-Apr-1941..
I wonder if the F. C. Jacobs could be C. E. Jacobs instead?..There was Charles Edwin Jacobs..I'm not sure if he lived in Commanche, but he did live over in that area of the state at one time..
