Looking for Tex. Cherokee Indian Info
Posted by: Jolynn Reed Date: July 26, 1999 at 18:07:03

My great-great grandfather, Brooks Lee, was supposed to be a full blood Cherokee Indian. He lived in the Midland/Odessa (possibly Abilene) area. Family folklore says he was "adopted" by a non-indian family and married a white woman. He had a daughter (my great grandmother) named Hattie.

Any information on Brooks Lee or if there are records of Cherokee in west Texas and where/how to search for info would be appreciated.

THANKS!
