Thanks for the information. The book can be found in several Texas public libraries and should be available in other states--try the different state union catalog for member libraries--several names were from the NW USA, even California addresses were among the entries. I used the one in Wichita Falls, TX. Curious which pension application form would be used to obtain the information from NARA? I've used the usual the search engines, etc., but can't find the right form--that's why I've searched Texas archives, etc. Who paid Texas Rangers pensions for the 1870-1880's service, especially when they moved to other states like New Mexico? Who paid for pensions of local TX, NM, and AZ men who participated in opposing the Mexican outfits that raided across the border before 1916--state or federal? It's easy to trace civil war pension applications (thank goodness enough of mine were poor and wanted those pensions--documentation goldmine for the descendants) but not the other kinds.
