I couldn't find Bradford nor Tyre on the 1880 census, but did find Wm Coke Richland Parish, LA:
Categories: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.
William S. COKESelfMMaleW25MSFarmer------

I find it strange the enumerator left location of birth for parents of everyone in the household blank.Even the little girls, when their parents are listed right there. If Artie really was half Cherokee, one of her parents would have to be full blood.Maybe the enumerator thought this family wasn't important enough to fill out all the columns???Just a thought.People had strange ideas about Native Americans in those days.
Since you know when and where Katie Meese Millsap died, you might look for an obituary.Since she was 101 when she died, there might be a news article about her, too.Of course, the information may have been gleaned from family members and might be the same as what youhave alreadyheard.
Have you checked the OK GenWeb site?Check what they may have on Native American info and also the Indian Territory records. Also, the archived section for OK GenWeb Project, too.
The term "Black Dutch" means German.Deutschland was the German name for Germany, and they spoke Deutsch, hence people got it mixed up with Dutch/Netherlands.I have an ancestress who looks part Indian, but claimed she was French and Black Dutch -- so far none of her family surnames even sound close to be one of those origins. But, who knows??
Here is a site that mayhelp. Many people have heard of the Dawes Rolls, but there are other rolls and collections. That term Old Settlers kept niggling at my memory cells. There is an "Old Settlers Roll", pertaining to Cherokees.Click and look at these collections.Even if no one registered in the immediate direct line for these you are researching, sometimes siblings would include names of everyone in their family when they registered.
