Earl Robert Lowrance 1900 died Corpus Christi Texas 1971
Query: EARL ROBERT LOWRANCE BORN 1900 ARAPAHO,OKLAHOMA
I am searching for information on Earl Robert Lowrance born Nov. 3, 1900 in Arapaho, Oklahoma. Married Mina Opal Sanderlin on May 28, 1921. Had two boys with her: Robert and Harold Laverne. Died 1971 Corpus Christi Texas.
This is my father's dad and he only saw him 3 times in his life. After the divorce, Mina raised my dad (Harold Laverne Lowrance) and Earl raised Robert. My father is now dying at 79 and is interested in learning more about his father and that side of the family. He doesn't even know his father's father or mother's names.
Earl Lowrance had a brother Lee who was an outlaw bankrobber in Clinton Oklahoma. My dad, at age 9, remembers uncle Lee and his friends riding up to Mina's farm before the Depression to spend the night after robbing a bank. They left the next morning just before the sheriff arrived. This was after Mina divorced Lee's brother. This would have been around 1933.
Dad says Earl too was an outlaw until he married Mina Opal Sanderlin, at age 21. Earl remarried and had another family. Mina remarried too but had no more children. I know some about her side of the family - the Sanderlins and NOTHING of the Lowrance side.
There is a story that grandpa Lowrance rode with Jessie James and the Dalton Gang. This was before Earl R. Lowrance's time, so it must have been his father who rode with them. I am also trying to get information on that. I don't know Earl's father's name. I do have one picture of a grandpa Babe Lowrance. I have one picture only of Earl Lowrance in his late teens or early twenties on horseback, with his brother Lee, also on horseback. It is the only picture my father has of his father and it's so far away you can hardly see details in the face.
I do know that the Lowrance family descended from Pennsylvania Dutch - Germany. I am just beginning to research the Lowrance family tree so I don't know who Earl Robert Lowrance's father and mother are yet. I haven't chosen which internet sites to use. Any recommendations? Any information would be much appreciated. I am happy to share the two pics I have of Earl, Lee and Babe Lowrance.
I am doing this research to give my father some information about his father before he passes on. It's a shame his father only saw his son 3 times in life. My dad only told us about his father a few years ago. As this man's granddaughter, I too have a right to know something about my grandfather as do my three brothers.
We have the Lowrance fishing gene in our blood, all of us being avid fishermen. I haven't seen anyone mention that yet in the Lowrance forum.
I found Earl Robert Lowrance in the World Family Tree Vol. 5 Tree 1621 and am getting ready to purchase it. I'm not sure what all it will tell me. Our family is very small and this information means the world to us.
Thank you,
