WILLIAM CHANDLER
William and Hetty Chandler first went to Illinois. Hetty was Cherokee Indian. John, their first child was born in Illinois. They moved to Washington County, Arkansas" in 1833 when John was a small baby. As they traveled to Washington County they would camp at night at Indian camps. At one camp, this Indian woman noticed John's eyes were red from the sun and she said she had something that would clear them up. Instead whatever she put in his eyes blinded him for life".-submitter's name not given

"my Grandfather, William Oliver Chandler, was a third generation native of Washington County, Arkansas. Notes for JOHN H. WILLIAMS, SR.:
Source: Publication of Madison County Genealogy and Historical Society, Huntsville, AR. The article was submitted by Don R. Jackson, 1804 Newning #4 Austin, TX 78704 taken from a small typewritten olume, The Williams and Hanna Families in the Texas State Library in Austin. It was reportedly prepared around forty years ago from records compiled by David S. Hanna who was born March 2, 1828 in Vermilion Co, Ill & died April 30, 1905 in San Saba Co, Tex. He knew personally many members of these families around Madison and Washington Co's., Ark., and later in Texas. His records were compiled around 1900 and evidently were in the possession of his grand-daughter, Mrs. t. J. Holbrook at Galveston, Tex., when typewriten. His records have been largely verified, with additions & corrections based primarily on census records, as well as marriage, death, cemetery, probate, pension & tax records. The above volume included many interesting comments of other Hanna families, including several in Washington Co., Ark., that are not included in this compilation.
According to David S. Hannah in about 1682 (questionable, but must have been based on information given him by an older member of the family) some members of the Williams family emigrated to the colonies in America from somewhere in Ireland (they probably lived in Wales earlier) and settled at or in the vicinity of Charleston, SC spreading out into many of the new settlements and colonies and raising large families.
The tradition is that two sons were born to one of the Williams families, the older named JOHN and the younger named DAVID.
John (Williams) married and raised a large family, and came to the blue grass region in Kentucky and settled with part of his family. He is supposed to have been associated with Daniel Boone, the noted frontiersman (possibly 1797-99 around the Big Sandy River). John Williams settled on the "Sanday" River (this seems to have been the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River in presend day Johnson Co., which was in Morgan Co. earlier, and before 1822 was in FLOYD CO., (ky) which then covered a large part of extreme eastern Kentucky, east of the blue grass area), where he remained until he died in old age (possibly 1820-30). Some of the children of John Williams (Senior) were JOHN H. WILLIAMS (Sr.), DAVID, MASON, and ISAAC.
John H. Williams, Sr. and 2nd wife Martha moved to Madison Co, AR about 1835.
