Combined info from TX Dth Idx and SSDI:
Jesse Fay Dickinson, b 27 May 1911; d 19 Jun 1994 Llano Co, TX; last residence Kingsland, Llano Co, TX; SS card issued in TX.
A copy of his death certificate should show the names of his parents.Accuracy only as good as the knowledge of the informant. But, he filled out his application for a Soc Sec card and it should show the names of his parents, too.
Once you have the name of his father, you can look for the family on the 1920 census, when Jesse would be about 9 years old.You will pick up names of his siblings, too.If there are any children older then Jesse, then you can go back to the 1900 census, also. That one asks the month and year of birth of everyone in the household.Plus birth location of parents of everyone, too. This will add to the information on the parents of Jesse.
If you are sure that Jesse was born in Upshur Co, TX, you should be able to obtain a copy of his birth record.Everton's Handybook for Genealogists shows Upshur has birth records beginning in 1903.But, some early births werenot recorded. If you try for his birth certificate, be sure to ask if his birth record does not show up, for them to check delayed birth records, too.Sometimes they are stored in differenct location and clerks do not think to look for them. Many people who did not have a birth certificate, were applying for delayed certificates about the time of WWII.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
