This may or may not be helpful since your Pierce/Pearce is from the South. There is a book written on the this family, also a book written on the Outlaws. The Pearce, Outlaw, Norris, Nordam/Nordham, McLeod families were in Abbeville, SC. then they moved/intermarried many times and in about 1816? moved to and formed Abbeville, Ala.. The southern 1/3 part of Alabama is full of descendants. Some moved into Mississippi, after the Civil War, some moved into N. Louisiana, then into Texas. I'm part of the group.
