Was your grandmother, Mary, born in LA, or TX? Have you looked for John Neale and his family on the 1900 census when Mary would be about 12 years old? The 1900 census will give you some good information. Month and year of birth of everone in the household. Location of each persons's birth, plus location of birth of the parents of each one, too. How many children a woman has had, and how many alive at the time of the census. It helps to tell if older children have already left home, but are alive.

Year immigrated to the U.S.; number of years in the U.S.; year of naturalization.
Happy Hunting. (^_^)
