Texas Researchers:
Anna Bagley was born ca. 1823 in Marshall County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Joab Bagley and Sarah Jackson. Anna married Sherwood W. Graves, August 26, 1843. Sherwood W. Graves died in 1849. Anna Bagley and Sherwood W. Graves had two sons: James T. Graves born 1844, settled in Birmingham, Alabama and James K. Graves born in 1846 (have no further information). Upon Sherwood W. Graves death Anna left the Marshall County, TN. area for Texas. When Anna left in 1850 she took Joab Bagley's trunk with all of his personal records. Joab Bagley was a successful farm owner in Marshall and Lincoln Counties in Tennessee. Joab Bagley was my 3rd great grandfather. My interest in this research is through my 2nd great grandmother Bethany Bagley a sister to Anna Bagley. I am trying to establish whether William Petty and William Thorton Petty are the same individual. Some researchres have Bethany married to William Petty and others to William Thorton Petty. The conflict is that some researchres have William Thorton Petty married to Bethany Bagley and others to Abigail Bayless on the same date of December 3, 1821 in Madison County, Alabama. Bethany Bagley Petty is buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Marshall County, TN., but without a spouse. If any Texas researchers have any information that they can share on Anna Bagley, Bethany Bagley, William or William Thorton Petty and Abiagail Bayless, it would be appreciated.
