I suggest you try to get a little more information on Samuel. Look for him and his family on the 1900 census. It will tell you month and year of birth of everyone in the household, where they were born, and location of birth of their parents, too.

Then armed with this information, post a query "Need 1880 Census Lookup", there are people on this forum who have their own multi CD set of the 1880 census. It contains an EVERYNAME index, which means you can look for wife, children, or anyone living in the household. Since Clark is so common, they will need the extra info, such as birth date, and birth location, plus birth location of parents helpful, too. Someone can then look for Samuel on the 1880 census, when he would be about 11 to 13 years old, and probably still living with his parents.
