Could Earl have been called by a different name? I searched the 1920 head of household index for Texas and found a D.W. Gott with family members whose ages match those you listed.
1920 Texas, Ellis County, Waxahachie, ED 121
600 William (owned)
D.W. Gott, Head, 42, Tennessee, Tenn, Tenn, occupation unreadable
Etna, Wife, 40, Texas, Ky, Tenn
Joe, Son, 16, Tex, Tenn, Tex
Kitty, Daughter, 12, Tex, Tenn, Tex
Preston, Son, 3/12, Tex, Tenn, Tex
I couldn't find Joe and Amanda in the 1920 census index. It is possible that they were living in the home of one of their children.
Since you know Earl's exact date of death, you can order his death certificate. It should have the names of his parents. You may also be able to find the exact dates of death of the other Gotts listed so that you can get their death certificates.
You may want to post another message asking for an 1880 census lookup to see if Willard Dulaney Gott is in the household of Joe and Amanda Gott. They can help you determine whether they are actually his parents.
