Mason John Cain, age 99, of Moss Hill, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Polk and Liberty Counties Area. He was a former grocery store owner- operator and was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for the last 70 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Arizona Creek Wildlife Association, member of the Masonic Lodge of Warren, a past deputy game warden, a logger and a cattle rancher. He was the son of the late Maxie Fields Cain and the late Dora (Gay) Cain. He is survived by his Daughters: Alline (Cain) Kyle & husband Bill of Vidor and Kathleen (Cain) Harris & husband Carroll of Fort Worth; Sons: Garthel Cain and wife Pauline of Broaddus, Norman Cain & wife Margie of Moss Hill, Bowen Cain of Moss Hill and Donald Cain & wife Linda of Lumberton; Sisters: Henrietta Burris of Moss Hill and Edna McCormick of Hardin; Brother: Forman Cain & wife Cassie of Deer Park; Daugther-in-law Shirley Barnhart of LaPorte; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife, Pearl Geneva (Kervin) Cain; Son: Arvil Cain and Grandsons: Larry Cain, Mickey Jacobs and Rickey Jacobs. Arrangements are being handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Funeral services will be at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2002 with the Rev. Gene Gardner officiating.
