John Abbott, between 1900 & 1913, Texas

I am seeking information on a John Abbott who was a chemist for the State of Texas at some time between 1900 & 1913. His grandfather was James Abbott from Brazeau, Perry County, MO. James was born in Virginia, his father being Abner Abbott of Lewis/Upshur County, WV (born in King and Queen County, VA).
