The William that is related to Steve's family was William J. Tucker.I misspoke myself in the last posting. He was the second to the youngest son of William and Catherine Tucker.William J. Tucker was born in Franklin Co., AR in the mid-1850's.He worked as a posseman with his younger brother, George R. Tucker, in Montague Co.However, I believe that the family moved to Oklahoma (I. T.) in the early 1900's.He was married to Luvica/Lavica Ogden about1873 in Montague Co., TX.They had three children: Anmdrew Dow Tucker, George D. Tucker and Ambrose A.(Ambriar?)
Tucker.
This information was obtained from the 1850, 1880 Federal Census of Franklin Co., AR and Montague Co., TX, respectively.
There are so many Tuckers that went to Texas during the Civil War. There is evidence of many Tuckers who signed the various Indian rolls, such as the Dawes.I have seen that the migration came from North Carolina, up to Tennessee, to Missouri and down to Arkansas.Or the route came through southern states, such as Alabama.I do not however believe that all the Tuckers that moved west did so because of their ethicity. Many moved for land and open spaces in the early 1800-1830's.You will see that many continued from Arkansas into Texas, Oklahoma, California, even up into Oregon. They got around.
The other names you mentioned do not match anything I have.
I hope this helps.
Mary
