McFarland is a fairly common surname, so some dates, or approximate dates, of births etc, would help to narrow the playing field a bit. For example, the following is combined info from TX Dth Idx Online 1964-1998 and SSDI, but wihtout any dates I'm not sure if it is your man:
Frank Bascom McFarland, b 15 May 1909; d 11 Mar 1982 Angelina Co, TX; last residence Huntington, Angelina Co, TX; SS card issued in TX.
If he is not the Bascom, son of Frank & Amelia; with names of both Frank and Bascom, I would think there is a family connection.

Have you checked the Van Zandt Co, TX GenWeb site? Some GenWeb counties are putting their cemeteries online, if not on the county site, be sure to also check the archived section of the TXGenWeb Project.
