Byrd, Joseph, Obediah, James, Pontotoc Ok, MS, TX, IL,

My grandad is Obe Byrd, his father was Obediah D Byrd. They were nicknamed Obie, or Obie Dar.

I found my ggrandfather Obediah D Byrd in 1900 census, in Roff Oklahoma (Pontotoc Co.), listed as follows:

Byrd Joseph Head w/m 66 MS
Nancy Wife w/f 55 MS
Obediah D Son w/m 23 TX
James M son w/m 21 Tx

Obediah D Byrd married my ggranmother, Mary Liza Clapp. I found a marriage record for them in 1903 in Franks, Oklahoma (Pontotoc Co.) Also found marriage record for James M in same County around same time.

Obediah D also worked in lumber industry in Colorado. I have a photo of him dated 1907. Prior to this, all I had was the family rumor that Obediah's father had deserted from the civil war. Ive located a Joseph Byrd of the H Company 48th US Illinois Infantry that did in fact desert in June of 1865.

So, now Im stumped. My Byrds have gone from Illinois, to MS, to Texas, to Oklahoma, to Colorado and back to Oklahoma.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
