Archibald didn't have to fight from TX to obtain a TX Confederat Pension, but he did have to live quite a while before TX began giving out pensions.
Go to the TX Confederate Pension site, type in Cashion and you will find 3 widows received pensions, one from Ellis Co, TX.It will list their husbands.I think Hugh's suggestion of checking out census records is good, and you might watch for these 3 men also.See if their ages, birth locations, and birth locations of their parents follow a pattern similar to your Archibald. They may be brothers, or cousins.Allow for the errors that might creep into the records, too.

While you're waiting to get into the Dallas Library, you might check the GenWeb sites for those counties you think might be where Archibald died. Some GenWeb counties are putting their cemeteries online.Be sure to check the TXGenWeb Project archives, too. Some county records are going to that site, under each county, instead of the actual county sites.
