Have you found the following site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gowenrf/Gowenms157.htm ?(There is a ton of infor on other pages in this directory.. it's just the one page that I have bookmarked) The Gowin Foundation has done extensive research into the lines and the ensuing spellings. My husband's GGmother was a Goens. Your post caught my interest because of where you reside now... My husband's Ggrandfather(who was married do Laura Goens) disappeared for a time to McAlester, OK... Have you by chance run across the name Miles Dobyns in your research? We're stumped as to why he went out there... Thanks in advance and hope this site is able to help you.
