You don't mention on your website whether you have a copy of death certificate for Charles, it might have the name and birth locations of his parents -- if the informant had that knowledge.
I don't remember if an 1870 census index has been published for LA, but if so, you could look at every Caruso family for one with a son about 8 yrs old named Charles.I went through all of MO 1850 census looking for a Brunett family with a daughter named Ellen, age unknown.I found one family, and with some research proved it was the right one.
I went through all of IL for 1860 looking for a Meek family with son about 6 yrs old named John, b in IL with the parents both born in England.I have found just one that matches, but unable to find "concrete" proof it is the correct one. But, I'm still working on them.
Did Laura have any children of own?I found Grover C. Heuman on TX Dth Idx Online 1964-1995, but didn't find Laura. If she had children, and you know when and where she died, you might get a copy of her death certificate.Track down informant, see if anyone in her family knows about family of Charles.Since Charles and Mary lived with Laura for awhile, there's a good chance family stories were told and Laura's family may have heard and remembered some of them.
Using an online directory, such as -- http://www.switchboard.comhttp://www.switchboard.com -- typing in just surname of Heuman, city of Galveston, TX, up come 3.You might try contacting them, see if they're related to Laura, and if they, or someone in their family is interested in family research.
FYI if you included http://http:// at the beginning of your website URL, it will show up as a hyperlink, as did the one above. And, you do not need to put your eddress out on the main page.If someone wants to email you directly, they go to "posted by" where your name is underlined, that is a link to your eddress. It takes a few seconds for the actual eddress to appear, just another way GenForum tries to protect us against spammers sending in their computers to grab emails for their spamming. If you're not aware of that feature, you may not know about another one -- just below that eddress is the history of your messages, click and up will come a list of the various GenForum sites you have visited.Great way to see last time you posted a query and whether it is time to do it again.Or, whether you've missed posting to a site that might help your research.Happy Hunting
